Structured Data for Property Websites: What to Implement and Why
The Property Sector's Blind Spot
We audited 50 property management websites across the UK. Only three had any structured data beyond basic Organization schema. This is a sector-wide blind spot — and it represents a massive opportunity for firms willing to invest a few hours in technical SEO.
Essential Schema for Property Businesses
Start with RealEstateAgent or LocalBusiness schema on your homepage, including areaServed, serviceType, and aggregateRating. Each service page should have its own Service schema with detailed descriptions, pricing indicators, and service area coverage. If you manage specific properties, consider Place schema with address and geo-coordinate data.
FAQ Schema for Property Queries
Property management generates endless questions from landlords and tenants: 'What does a property management fee include?', 'How often are inspections carried out?', 'What happens if a tenant doesn't pay rent?' Create FAQ pages with these questions and implement FAQPage schema. AI tools cite FAQ content disproportionately often because it directly matches question-and-answer query patterns.
Directory Consistency Matters More Than You Think
AI tools cross-reference your details across multiple sources. If your address is '14 King Street' on your website but '14 King St' on Yell and 'Unit 2, 14 King Street' on Google Business, the inconsistency reduces AI confidence in citing you. Audit every directory listing and standardise your information.
Measuring Results
Track your AI visibility monthly. Search for your core services in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Monitor Search Console for AI-related impressions. Within 90 days of implementing structured data, most property firms see measurable improvements in both AI citations and organic search performance.
